The PlayGarden has a team of teachers, gardeners and administrative staff that help to ensure the programs and the gardens are well cared for.
A lot of talents went into designing and building of the PlayGarden! Learn more about our designers.
In 2003, the PlayGarden became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and the Seattle Parks Department offered the south end of Colman Playfield, at 24th Avenue South and South Grand Street, as the site for this innovative public-private development.
"The PlayGarden is an amazing place for children of all ages and especially for those with disabilities. "We are truly honored to have been able to contribute to the development of the PlayGarden. It is easily accessible even for children in wheelchairs and provides surrounding neighborhoods with a beautiful amenity."- Ken Bounds, former Seattle Parks and Recreation Department Superintendent.
