About the Artist:

‚Äč

Janet Welch has been an artist for most of her 84 years.

Her work is as diverse as it is prolific. Whether it be painting, pottery, illustrations, or custom needle point designs, animals have always be a favorite subject. She is an active member of two pottery studios, one in Walnut Creek, CA where she lives and the other in Berkley. Her pet portraits on ceramic plates (dogs, cats, and the occasional llama) are her most popular and most requested pieces.

A long time supporter of The PlayGarden (and our garden designer Wendy’s mother), Janet loved doing these colored pencil portraits of all the current animals in residence -A brood of 5 ducks, 5 chickens, 3 bunnies, 1 goose, and Hazel the cat.
